Shoe style: Suede Sneakers

Other than in the rain or snow, there really is never a bad time or season to wear suede sneakers and the funny thing about sneaker trends is that they often aren't new styles — rather, they're old standbys being revived. Every year there’s a standout sneaker style that defines street style. Last year it was all about simple white sneakers, but for 2017, it's all about updating the sleek leather material for a luxe suede sneaker. The textured detail adds an elevated look to a casual shoe style. Puma's suede platform sneaker is fresh shoe style with a platform sole and with the pop colour in suede is a cool statement for a more classic weekend outfit.

One of the most important things you should take away from this article is how to protect your suede.  Suede is one of those materials because it's naturally porous (it's not treated like leather) and doesn't have any natural water-repelling qualities.
First you need to wait until the suede is dry before you tackle it with a brush or cloth – when suede is wet the bristles are fragile and rubbing at them will cause tear in the fabric, and liquids can stain the fabric, cause it to change shape and even cause the dye to run. Taking care of suede shoes is fairly straight forward; you don’t polish suede, you use the suede brush gently, sweeping in short, gentle strokes to freshen up the nap of the fabric, if you can try follow the grain of the fabric.  Use shoe trees to maintain shape and resole when needed.
