COLOUR CRUSH: LILAC
12:43:00WHY I LOVE LILAC
THE HISTORY OF LILAC
The name “lilac” was first used in 1775. It takes its name from the colour of lilac flowers. In the past, lilac has been associated with mourning. In nineteenth-century Britain, it was one of the few shades it was considered appropriate for a woman to wear towards the end of her mourning period when black was no longer required.
Lilac is a shade of purple, a colour that has a regal history. Prior to 1856, purple dye was very expensive and traditionally, the colour purple was associated with luxury, passion, and power.
Lilac looks really amazing with neutral tones like white, grey, and beige. Or, you can pair it with other fun colours: yellow, orange, or even hot pink, the colour is that versatile.
Be stylish and wear a lilac cocktail dress. The dress colour already makes a statement on its own, so keep your accessories and jewellery simple.
Some colours are just meant to be worn head to toe in a monochrome look, and I think lilac is definitely one of them. Be bold this spring with one of the season’s hottest trends: the pantsuit. Don’t let a little colour intimidate you from turning heads! Try a lilac suit, you won’t regret it.
So I hope this post gave you some Lilac inspiration! I would love to know what your favourite colour is, tell us by leaving a comment below.
HOW TO WEAR LILAC
Lilac is a gentle, versatile colour. For a bright palette, you could contrast it with colours like orange, yellow, olive green and grey. But it also looks great with analogous shades of purple, or alongside a soft pink.Lilac looks really amazing with neutral tones like white, grey, and beige.
