10:49:00Nothing wrong with a little bit of sheen as we transition into the warmer months, and wearing metallic pastels is such a fun and cool way of embracing the soft colour palette for spring and summer. It is soft, feminine with a touch of glam. Although pastels and metallic seem to be at different ends of the fashion spectrum but they are both hot this spring. I know what you’re thinking, “Been there, done that.” But these are a whole new spectrum of metallics that have moved beyond the soft silver and sun-dipped golds we are all so used to. Fashion designers have taken dazzling, bold metallic items and add some pale, soft pastels to create the most amazing outfits.
You can go casual or you can dress up for a night out. Metallics seem like they belong in winter, but these shiny new colours fit right in with the warm summer sun. So stay on trend with these hot new looks and stand out from the crowd.
HOW TO WEAR PASTEL METALLIC!
If you want a bold statement in your outfit, pastel metallic is the way to go.
- For day-wear, team pastel metallic dresses or skirt with an understated jersey or top. Texture on texture is one of my favourite styling tricks, try a chunky knit jersey in a similar colour or a white blouse with a pastel metallic skirt will add a feminine, workwear touch.
- Keep accessories to a minimum. Since pastel metallics pack a significant visual punch all on their own, there’s no need to go overboard with accessories.
- Pair pastel metallics with neutral colours. By using neutrals to balance out a metallic pastel piece you can keep your look on-trend without going over the top.
- A pastel metallic jacket over a simple outfit is probably one of the easiest ways to wear this look. You can never go wrong wearing metallic pastels with black or white separates.
- Another great way to wear the trend is monochrome. Choose one colour and stick with it throughout your outfit. The different textures is great for a monochrome look.
- Mix different metallic pastel shades together for a soft yet bold look. Metallic pastel bottoms are just as effective for making a statement within your look.
- Think of denim as a neutral. Pair a pastel metallic jacket with distressed denims and a graphic tee so it doesn’t feel too fancy. Metallic pastels can spice up any casual look.
